Pop art is a style of art from the 1950s and 1960s. In many parts of the world life was changing fast at that time. For the first time, people were driving fast cars, eating fast food, watching colour television and listening to pop music. There were lots of new things in the shops, and there were lots of adverts. The adverts were bright and colourful, and they attracted people’s attention.

Pop artists were interested in modern things like adverts and television. They wanted to make art that was popular and fun. They made pictures and sculptures of ordinary things. There were lots of Pop artists in Britain and the USA.
